Dr. Richard Kennedy is a professor of medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine at Mayo Clinic and co-director of the Vaccine Research Group. Dr. Kennedy is an immunologist by training and studies the development of immune responses after vaccination. He has published more than 100 papers and serves as a grant reviewer for the National Institutes of Health and multiple international funding agencies. His research focuses primarily on vaccines against viral pathogens, such as poxviruses, influenza, measles, mumps, and rubella. Other areas of interest include: immunogenetics, the effect of aging and immunosenescence on immune function, and the use of systems biology approaches to studying vaccine-induced immunity.
